Typical Designs
I think I need to step out of the box. My designs are getting to be like the ones already made. I don't want my designs to look tacky and crazy, but something a little different. I don't know what to do and I'm tired of scribbling over designs in my sketchbook. What should I do?

wait for a new inspiration. If you spend all your time scribbling, your ideas vanish immediately. Don't force yourself to do it..there will be better times

There will always be designers fashion that is comparable so in the long run it will feel like you are always be trying to run away from the other designers which is a mistake, be true to what you like and you will always stay ahead of your competitors.
When i need inspiration for a new card design I look through the type of magazine that i would not normally dream of looking in. I am often surprised my a new idea or concept springing to mind from something simple in the mag.
No guarentees that it will work but may be worth a try.
